Day Light Savings Time has reduced my evenings by one hour.  In other words, if I find myself at the end of the day and yet to make my Portrait of the Day, I now have one less hour of day light with which to work!  Living in Alaska, where we experience a loss of six minutes of daylight this time of year, further exacerbates the of loss of light and complicates my portrait project even further.  With fewer and fewer minutes of daylight, until we reach the depths of darkness on December 21, my outside portraits will become increasingly challenged.  And, let’s not even talk about the diving temperatures!  The point is that every place on earth has its challenges, some more than others.  Getting out and making images, however, is a great way to stand up to the elements and to prove that you can overcome whatever mother nature and, in the case of Day Light Savings Time, government throws at you.
