1 PM, September 28, 2011. Valdez resident, Lisa, awaits her order outside Sack’s, downtown Anchorage. I was driving by and saw this woman sitting in this beautiful light. I pulled my car into the last remaining parking place on the street and, thankfully, she allowed me to make this image.
12:30 PM, September27, 2011. Parks and Recreation Horticulturist, Sandra Potvin and her crew members, work to remove flowers from Town Square’s beds in downtown Anchorage marking the end of summer.
5 PM, September 26, 2011. Self portrait at Mirror Lake near Anchorage. I saw this location on my way home from the Matanuska Valley yesterday and came back today prepared to make this image. Thanks to Elizabeth Elrod for per assistance!

4 PM, September 24, 2011. Tim Jansen on the bike trail near Margaret Sullivan Park, Anchorage. Tim is deaf and, at first, I had some difficulty communicating with him. Once he understood what I wanted to do, however, he was very willing to participate in my portrait project.

6:30 PM, September 21, 2011. Petroleum Engineer, Alecia Wood, Margaret Sullivan Park, Anchorage. Alecia happen by just as the evening sun created some of the most beautiful light of the day. I was struck by her natural beauty and her instincts as a model.
12 PM, September 20, 2011. Financial investment specialist and television personality, Garret Wong, in his office, Anchorage. After two hours of photographing Garret and his staff, we were packing up and about to leave when I noticed Garret near the window. I retrieved my camera and made this image,- my favorite of the day.
12:30 PM, September 19. Soon Jeong, Oak’s Alterations, mid-town, Anchorage. Soon was very shy and it took a bit of an effort before she allowed me to make her portrait.
6 PM, September 18, 2011. Neighbor, Melissa Janigo, and her friend, Jay Johnson, with his dog, Buster, in the alley near my home in South Addition, Anchorage. Melissa is a speech pathologist and Jay a carpenter. Buster, on the other hand, is all dog.

7:30 PM, September 14, 2011. Four year old Alina, South Anchorage hillside. I shot a number of images of Alina and, eventually, she warmed up to me. This, however, was the first image. I love her look and how she is sizing me up.

9:30 AM, September 12 2011. Sprinkler fitters and partners, Bill and Gina, downtown Chicago. For the second day in a row, my first image turns out to be my favorite of the day. I was happy Bill and Gina were willing to allow me to take a couple minutes from their busy morning.
10 AM, September 11, 2011. Patty Duffy agrees to participate in a portrait to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11 on Michigan Avenue, downtown Chicago.
10 AM, September 11, 2011. A Checker cab drives past on the Michigan Ave. bridge and for a brief moment, I make eye contact with the woman in the back seat.
9:30 AM, September 11, 2011. American Moses. It was my hope to make portraits on the anniversary of 9/11. The first image of the day was a homeless man on the Michigan Ave Bridge in downtown Chicago. Myron was a soft-spoken gentleman who asked for nothing and very much wanted to participate in this commemorative image. I made many more images throughout the day, but this was my favorite.
3 PM, September 10, 2011. Museum attendant, Arif, at the Art Institute of Chicago. Arif was, at first, reluctant to have me make his photograph. I persisted, however, and he eventually relented.
11 AM, September 9, 2011. Karin Schelke, in the living room of her home in Haslett, Michigan. Karin has an interest in blue glass.
6 PM, September 8, 2011. Seventeen year old, Brittney Wichert, is an accounting student at Alma College and works at the Wash King in Alma Michigan. This was Brittney’s first night on the job.
